Ukraine Siren Alerts

2M+ People Alerted

Ukraine Siren Alerts (UASA) was a web and social media-based platform that notified users of incoming attacks across Ukraine. Using data from municipalities, UASA delivered alerts via social media, SMS notifications, and the UASA website—reaching those who couldn't hear sirens or lacked internet access. The platform also provided news feeds, maps of Russian army positions, shelter locations, and more. Translated into 13+ languages to serve Ukraine's diverse population, UASA operated for 2 years before it was handed over to Ukrainian authorities and partly integrated into other systems.

Key Features

Multi-Channel Alerts

Real-time notifications delivered via SMS, email, Telegram, Twitter, and Facebook—reaching users through whatever platform they had access to during the conflict.

Shelter Finder

Over 42,000 bomb shelters mapped across Ukraine, helping civilians find safety quickly when sirens sounded.

Threat Intelligence

Beyond air raids, the system tracked minefields, shellings, and other civilian threats using government, military, and open-source intelligence.

Story from the Frontline

A volunteer in Ukraine called into my podcast and recounted this story: while driving to a Ukrainian city, he couldn't hear the sirens over the noise of the engine. Fortunately, he received a mobile UASA alert, allowing him to change course and seek safety.

He later visited his intended destination, only to find a crater in the ground where he would have been.

It's stories like these that paint a picture of what's important. His story pushes me to continue doing what I'm doing.
